This year too you are all invited to Andersen Festival 2017, an amazing event that will take place in the wonderful seaside resort of Sestri Levante in the Baia del Silenzio, from the 8th to the 11th of June.
What is Andersen Festival?
It is a 4-day event full of fun, both for adults and children, during which about 2000 artists will perform in different kinds of shows.
The reading of Andersen’s books, really recommended for dreamers, will be the starting point of the event, accompanied by fire shows and concerts.
The city will be full of music, artists and storytellers that will perform in front of the amazing sea of Sestri Levante. This is year it is the 20th anniversary of Andersen Festival.
Every performance is free: arriving a few minutes before the beginning of the shows, you will find the best seats. As regards the shows that will take place in the Baia del Silenzio, mats will be provided to sit on the beach.
Andersen Festival 2017 is also an opportunity to visit Sestri Levante, also called “Città dei due mari” (city of the two seas) because it overlooks two bays: Baia delle Favole (Fairy Tales Bay) and Baia del Silenzio (Silence Bay).
The Baia delle Favole beach has a wide bathing area that goes from the tourist marina to Sant’Anna’s gallery, and it is so called in honour of Hans Christian Andersen. There are several bathing establishments, some of them dedicated to younger people, and there are also free beaches.
The Baia del Silenzio beach is really suggestive and is characterized by a narrow sandy shore surrounded by the pastel coloured houses that are typical of fishing villages. Here the sea is clear and transparent.
Andersen Festival 2017 will fill your eyes with emotions: not only children, but also adults will be able to believe in fairy tales and to look at the world through the eyes of a child.
